REPRESENTATION
Developing the processes and tools to ensure Travellers and Roma are represented at all levels of the decision making processes in Co Donegal.
ONGOING WORK
- The DTP works to develop the participatory processes and tools by which the Traveller and Roma communities are represented in participatory democratic structures in Co Donegal to achieve change and influence local decision making.
- A growing number of staff from the DTP sit on boards and committees at a local and national level. DTP also maintains a very strong policy and representational role, ensuring that issues relevant to members of the Traveller and Roma communities in rural and border areas are included in wider, regional and national discussions.
- The work of DTP not only addresses pressing needs and advocates for marginalised communities, but also builds capacity for the members of their communities to become advocates for their communities in their own right. DTP works to ensure the Roma Community are recognised, included and respected as a minority ethnic group in Donegal.
- We develop the processes and tools by which the Traveller and Roma communities are represented in participatory democratic structures in Co Donegal to achieve change and influence local decision making.
- We continue to develop DTP as a strong, democratic, accountable and effective local Traveller and Roma organisation with good governance.
